I’m Ms. Dodge and I am a 3rd grade teacher at Lawton Elementary School! I am so excited to be working with your awesome students. Previously, I student-taught 4th grade at King Elementary in Ann Arbor as a part of my masters program with the University of Michigan and I have an undergraduate degree in developmental psychology from the University as well. This will be my second year teaching and my second year at Lawton! Last year I taught second grade, and this will be my first year teaching third grade, so this will be a learning experience for both me and your students, but I have so much support from the Lawton community, especially the rest of the third grade team. We will all work together to make this the best year for your students. Every group of students who pass through my doors are greeted with high expectations, compassion and an excitement for life. Being a child is one of life’s greatest pleasures. The third grade team at Lawton is a cohesive team who works hard to make this pivotal year full of happy memories of learning and finding new friendships in their classmates, in their new teachers and in themselves as they navigate becoming a “big kid.”

A book I would recommend to Lawton students is the Percy Jackson series because I love how it combines learning about Greek mythology with the fun adventures of Percy and his friends at Camp Half Blood.

My favorite subject when I was in elementary school was reading because I could explore new worlds through books!
